Average Boil Volume (Hopville Beer Calculus)

So, I’ve been using beer calculus to devise recipes, and I’m not 100% sure what I should enter for average boil. My assumption is that I should use the average of my pre-boil and post-boil volume, e.g., 5.75 gallons if I have 6.5 gallons pre-boil and 5 gallons post. Yes?

Yup. That’s what I do.

Yup. Although by and large a gravity difference that small won’t affect the utilization formulas.

Gotcha. Still, I like to plan for a perfect scenario just so I know what could’ve been :wink: .
