It’s not as much education as laziness. They could probably do it if they thought about. This is my point with AI more reason not to think. AI has a place in science and industry but how about that commercial where the student asks AI to develop a study plan. Duh

No I agree with @brew_cat it’s straight up laziness. It’s easier for me to enter a prompt than it is for me to look for a synonym for a certain word and learn. And I admit I use AI. I have a 12 y/o son and I have to check homework that I haven’t done in 35 years! So I’ll use AI to make sure that I’m looking at it correctly so I can explain it to him to make sure I’m right!
But sadly I see sooo many articles, posts, etc that are straight up AI. And, as it gets better it’s going to be harder for people to tell what is real and what isn’t…. Really concerning in the world I deal with. Essentially you’ll be able to show me a video of someone doing something and it never happened yet you look guilty
