Adding Jalapenos to Cream Ale

I current have a batch of dead ringer in my primary and wanting to brew a jalapeno cream ale. I bought the cream ale kit which calls for a single stage fermentation. I was planning on using my plastic pale since my carboy is being used. I saw a recipe that says to slice and bake 4oz of jalapenos, soak in vodka and add with 15 min. left to boil. Everything I have learned and found says to add the jalapenos during the secondary, can I just open the lid and put them in? Suggestions?

I soak mine in vodka then add the infused vodka on bottling day. Makes life a lot easier than adding chunks of stuff to your beer, and the taste and spice are very fresh.

How long shall I soak them in vodka for?

Until you come to your senses. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you microwave the vodka for a few seconds, you only need to soak your jalapenos for 5-6 hours in my experience to get all the goodness out. Try it and see for yourself.

You can also use tequila, of course.
