8500 feet

I was looking for some information on growing hops at this altitude. Does anyone know of any
info/books/web sites that can help me out with this?

Happy brewing!

This guy grows them in Taos. I don’t know the elevation difference but he may be able to help you if you can get a hold of him. Hop ON! http://www.probrewer.com/vbulletin/show … hp?t=21494

I can tell you that they grow wild up here (9400’) so it’s certainly possible. I’d imagine it’s easiest to stick with the faster-growing varieties because of the short growing season.

I have found wild hops growing above 7000 feet in N. AZ. and they grow in Flagstaff, a little lower than Angel Fire, but similar climate.
I just planted rhizomes 2 weeks ago and had my first sprout poking up last weekend before it snowed 2 feet-I’ll let you know how it goes.

They don’t mind altitude, as long as they get warm during the summer. The cold climate is ideal during the winter when they go into hibernation

This winter a buddy told me he knows where they’re growing wild so I thought I
would give it a go. Sounds like I need to just get a couple of different hops and
get after it. Thanks guys!

Happy brewing!
