Yeast starter's question?

Hello I know this is a pretty simple question about yeast starter’s but I see people boil for 10 to 15min but can someone just boil there starter for like 5min would that be sufficient time ?

I boil the water for about 3 minutes to sanitize my kettle. Remove from the heat and dump the DME in. Stir to dissolve. 171°F for less than a minute pasteurizes. That’s all I do for the starter wort.

I’m not sure where the 15 min rule came from. It’s been the rule of thumb for starters for as long as I have been brewing. As far as I’m concerned, once it reaches a boil it doesn’t take long to kill anything undesirable so I don’t boil very long.
