I am trying to come up with a safe water profile for an all grain ipa kit (dead ringer). I found one on -line and used beersmith to take my Poland Springs bottled water to the desired profile. All worked well but then the light went on… I noticed the volume in beersmith was set for 5 gal, and I assume I need to treat my starting boil volume (or more actually … due to losses). So I guess I should plan on treating about 8 gallons… does that sound right?
I have found Brew 365 Mash and sparge water calculator to be an easy early step when planning water for brewing. This will give you a more exact water amount to plug in but yes, 8 gallons will likely be about right.
