Pumpkin ale

thinking about brewing a pumpkin al this sat actually i am
but confused about adding fresh pumpkin
now i am thinking about adding the pumpkin after i did steep the grains and before the dme
will this be enough time to get the full taste of the pumpkin in my worth total boil time will be 65 min

This is what I did when I made my first attempt at a pumpkin beer and it worked out really well. I used canned pumpkin in my extract batch. I used full pie pumpkins in my AG version this year. I sectioned them up and sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon and baked at 350 for 1 hour. I added some to the mash and some to the boil.

If you are planning to go with canned pumpkin, I highly recommend using a muslin bag because otherwise you may wind up with quite a mess.
