Northern Brewer Partners with Pints for Prostates

“Homebrew Strong” combines Northern Brewer’s Belgian Golden Strong Ale with the powerful antioxidant properties of green tea
Raise your Pints for Prostates! Northern Brewer is partnering with nonprofit, Pints for Prostates, to raise awareness of prostate cancer and help those affected by the disease with Homebrew Strong — a new beer kit that combines Northern Brewer’s customary Belgian Golden Strong Ale with the powerful antioxidant properties of green tea.

“Belgian Golden is one of my favorite beer styles,” said Rick Lyke, Pints for Prostates founder. “I was recently touring breweries in Belgium and this beer is spot on stylistically.”

The benefits of this ale are plentiful for both those who brew it and those who receive assistance from the portion of the proceeds from each kit purchased that goes towards Pints for Prostates mission to raise awareness among men about the importance of regular health screenings and early detection by “reaching men through the universal language of beer,” at beer events, social networking and pro bono advertising.

This partnership is a natural fit. Their cause is important to many of our family, friends and customers. If this outreach saves just one life, it is worth all the effort. We look forward to watching the home brewing community help us spread even more awareness of Rick’s organization and the importance in getting checked.

In addition to the green tea infused beer kit, Northern Brewer is launching a new line of Pints for Prostates products including apparel, pint glasses, growlers and bottle caps. A portion of proceeds from each item sold benefits Pints for Prostates.

About Pints for Prostates Inc.

Pints for Prostates is a grassroots campaign that uses the universal language of beer to reach men with an important health message. Founded in 2008 by beer writer and prostate cancer survivor Rick Lyke, the campaign raises awareness among men about the importance of regular health screenings and early detection by making appearances at beer events, social networking and pro bono advertising.

Funds generated by the group go to fighting prostate cancer and assisting men with the disease. In addition to funding its education and awareness efforts, Pints for Prostates supports other 501(c)3 organizations involved in the fight against prostate cancer. Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network, which works to support, educate and advocate for men with prostate cancer and their families, and the Prostate Conditions Education Council, which organizes free men’s health screening clinics across the U.S., are recipients of Pints for Prostates financial support.

No 3-gallon BIAB?

You had me at “no”.

Certainly a worthy cause. However has anyone had green tea infused beer? What’s it taste like?
