Hi everyone–thanks so much for taking the time to give me your advice today!
I just got home and took a hydrometer reading. The brew was pitched on 7/28,
OG 1060. Today’s gravity reading was 1016!
This was a True Brew Canadian Ale kit. I re-checked the directions and it said to
pitch when temp is below 90 degrees.
I think I’m in the Keep it camp–I may even try the same kit again and pitch at the
optimum temperature.
Thanks again!

If this is the kit:
http://bsghandcraft.com/downloads/TrueB ... ianAle.pdf
The instructions seem to say chill to below 75F.
Muntons Ale yeast has a temperature range of 64F-70F.
That yeast has a wide temperature range (works outside the recommended range) and is fairly hardy, similar to the Coopers yeast in those characteristics, so you may be ok.
O.G should be 1.042-1.044 - your reading of 1.060 may be high due to incomplete mixing of the wort.
Let us know how the brew turns out.

Now what directions did you get and who would’ve put the wrong directions in your box.
I hate that when that happens…
