I was bamboozled twice this week by ‘fest beer’ and ‘Oktoberfest’ that was in fact Amber ale. Wachuset and Grey Sail of Newport both label their Amber ale as fest beer or Oktoberfest. I should’ve read the label closer. Neither was very good.
I had Coney Island Brewery’s “Freaktoberfest”.
It did not pretend to be an Octoberfest at least. It was flavored with coffee. Not bad, but the one I had was free. I do not think I would buy it with other choices available.
I had Six Point Brewery’s Octoberfest as well. It too was a bit “bocky” but not like Blue Point’s Bocktoberfest.
