Black Lager Adjuncts

AW shoot… Kinda wasted a day with my guitar…
Carafa special is neutral in flavor?
Well when I think of lager, there isn’t much there… thats why its such a hard one to brew… Adding dark malt should change the “nothingness” to a bit more… a little anyways… I’m not at all dissing Pils style… For those that haven’t brewed one… Mistakes can not hide anywhere…
I just have to read up on these dark malts… And then just pick one… I have to start… and then theres yeast!!! I’ll start with 34/70… since its in my fridge… Gotta get a sack of Pils too!

carafa special is “dehusked” so yea it has little to no roasted flavor impact.

Went a looking…
The darkest of the “burnt malts” I could find is the midnight wheat… It also claims to not bring much flavor to the party in, what appears to be the amount I’m going to tinker with…
Now on a side note, I really believe I did buy chocolate wheat, but now, it isn’t found this AM in my search… Should I believe the last 2 lbs I have ARE midnight wheat? I’ll use whats on hand to get underway…

Saturday is brew day… I’ll start off with a plain ol basic Lager… The next will be a black Lager on the yeast cake…
A base grain bill to work with through my Lager series…
9 lbs PIls
8 oz Vienna
8 oz wheat…
Hops… I many to choose from… I’ll leave that until brew day…
