Yeah, as I did my Citra pale ale yesterday, I was studying my primitive whirlpool counterflow chiller set up and thinking of ways I could improve it with what I have. A new set up is a ways off yet for me. I just have to figure a way to mount the whirlpool arm to the side of the kettle instead of in the center of the immersion chiller. I realize the immersion chiller is too small for my kettle, but the whirlpool arm spitting out through the center of it is impeding my flow. Still get a decent whirlpool, but no hop cone at the end so ALL of my sediment and 6 oz of hops got pumped out into my carboy. It works well enough, but I can do better with some fiddling I think.
