Yeast Starter for Dead Ringer

We brewed the Dead Ringer IPA extract kit with specialty grains on Saturday, but didn’t do a yeast starter (didn’t realize it was recommended until it was too late). We used the Wyeast 1056 American Ale smack pack. Our OG was 1.062 (near the target of 1.064)

Should we be concerned about the fermentation, or will we be OK? If there is concern, is there anything we can or should do?


You would have been better off with a starter, but you’ll likely be at least OK.

It will just take longer to get the end result but it should be ok.
