Yeast starter DRy malt extract

So I’m doing a yeast starter for a Belgian dubbel and I’m wondering if you would just use the DME from the kit or if you should use a separate DME?

You could use some of the DME for the starter. A one liter starter would use about 3.6 ounces of the DME. One pound of DME will add 44 gravity points per gallon to your beer. This would reduce the original gravity by about 9 points for a one gallon brew, or about two gravity points for a five gallon brew. I hope my math is correct.

When you can pick up some extra light DME just for starters. Less to worry about and more time to concentrate on the brewing.
