Yeast help

This past week I received my order from NB. One of the brews I purchased
was an Imperial Stout kit. Since the weather has been so hot here of late,
I did not order any yeast with any of the kits, thinking I would just purchase
them from my LHBS. The Imperial Stout calls for Wyeast 1728 Scottish ale
yeast, which my LHBS did not have, so the guy at the store said that
whitelabs edinburgh ale wlp028 would be fine. Is this advise ok?
Thanks for your help.

According to Kristen, (http://www.mrmalty.com/yeast.htm)
It’s the same yeast. You should be good to go.

Thanks

Both are supposed to be from McEwans Scottish Ale so no difference. Go for it!

I’m not sure I agree. I’ve brewed my 80 shilling recipe with both and prefer the Wyeast. Not to say that the White Labs won’t make good beer, just that to me they seem like different yeasts.
