Yeast Comparison

I stumbled upon this YouTube video that shows a single 10 gallon batch divided into two fermenters. He used WLP007 and 051 and it’s pretty amazing how different the color is from one yeast to the other.

This prompted me to pull up a recipe for Sculpin and as I swapped the yeasts back an forth in BeerSmith, the ABV changed with the yeast selection, the SRM did not. I’ve never considered the yeast’s impact on color before, but there it is!

Could it be floculation difference. It would be interesting to see what if looked like in the glass after conditioning. Did he say coconut IPA?

Yep. Exactly what I was thinking. In my experience WLP007 drops like a rock. WLP051 drops somewhat fast, but not as fast as 007.
