Getting ready to transfer to the keg today. I was rinsing my siphon before sanitizing it. Inside I see a long hair. It is attached to the plastic end piece from the inside. I cannot get it out. Will this be just a sanitized hair that I should ignore? Or should I go get a new siphon?
I would ignore it. Just use the same sanitizing procedure you have been. That hair may have been there for a while with out causing any problems.
My Starsan spray bottle stopped functioning. I took the nozzle apart. A dark piece inside wouldn’t shake out so I used a tooth pick to loosen it. Turned out to be a lump of kitty hair. With three cats in the house I’m pretty sure some kitty hair even got into bottles during filling.
that was my guess as well. Needed support.
I was finishing up a batch that had just cooled and as I was taking out my IC, my yellow lab walked up and gave a good shake. If you have a lab, then you know how much they shed. I’m not sure just how many hairs went in the batch but we called it “Yellow Lab IPA”. It was great!
Every time I pull my cooler up from the basement to get it ready for a mash, I find at least 3-4 Black Lab hairs in it. I find this amazing for 2 reasons.
- I store the cooler in the basement with the lid on.
- The dog is not allowed in the basement.
