Will this much grain crush my SS braid?

I’ve got a Denny-style setup for batch sparging and I’m doing a large batch this weekend. I’ll have about 23.5 lbs of grain in my cooler at 1.5L per pound. So, my 52 qt cooler will be almost totally full.

Will this much weight crush the SS braid and prevent me from running off?

No, the bottom of the cooler holds the weight.

Apparently it depends on the quality of the braid. If you bought yours in the gas appliance section you should be fine but if you got one that’s just cosmetic dressing on a toilet line (for instance) you might have problems.

You can always slip a stainless steel spring inside the brad.

I’m building my all grain setup now. Instead of a supply hose, I happen to have laying around some leftover braid I got at JEGS.com. It is just a roll of braid that you put over rubber hoses. My setup though, will have a slotted PVC pipe inside it for support, and the loose end I am thinking I will JB weld to the cooler bottom to hold it in place. JB is non-toxic once it cures.

This is similar to what I have,

UPDATE: I used the one from a toilet line and everything went fine. 23.5# grain and the runoff went as it normally does.

Thanks for the input, all.
