Water to grain or vice versa?

I warm the tun with hot tap water first while I’m bringing the temp up on the mash AQ. My strike AQ is usually 10-12 deg. hotter than what my actual mash temp. I dump the warm up AQ, then add the mash AQ, then add the grain, then stir with my battery operated electric drill with a paint paddle attached. 20 sec. and wa-la no dough balls. I usually have to add cold AQ cause I’m on the high side a degree or two, maybe 2-3 cups. No problems mate!
