Water analysis - Ward Labs

Has anyone used this company for beer-water analysis? If so, were you satisfied with their service and the results? I’m getting ready to request a test but wanna ensure I’m not wasting my money.

Ward labs is the only company that I use. Fast, dependable results. Get the W-6 test.

thx bro!
Get the W-6 test.
– Bro, why the W-6? Why not the “beer test”?

I see the W - 6 is 10 dollars cheaper, but does it have all the info I need for water analysis for brewing?

If I remember right the only thing that you would gain by the beer test over the W-6 test is the Iron and total phosphorus.
FWIW there is no need to order the test kit. Simply fill out the sample submittal form, fill a clean water bottle with the water that you are looking to test, pack well, and ship your sample with your submittal form and payment enclosed. This way the test only runs $16.50

+1 to the above - exactly what I do.

I submitted a sample in September. I was happy with the experience. That being my first time, I ordered the kit. I liked the fact that the price included priority shipping back to them and I did not have to wait in line at the post office. Worth the extra $9.50 to me.

+1 on kcbeersnob’s comment. Although a brewer may not really need the iron and phosphate test results, Ward is making a nice low hassle way to get your water tested that includes a container and shipping. For some people, its worth the extra cost. For those that have other beer-related destinations for their money, the W-6 test is the way to go.

The first step to understanding IF you should adjust your brewing water is to figure out what is in it. Get your water tested if your water supply doesn’t have testing results available. Its cheap and worth it!

The beer test gives you info you don’t really need and is more expensive.

Thanks very much, all. I’ve been brewing for Many years but never had my water analyzed. Water manipulation/tinkering is the final frontier for this brewer, and I expect it’ll make a big (good) difference in my beers’ flavor, mouthfeel, etc.

Rock on
