Used Ball Lock Shortage

Has anyone else noticed the scarcity of used ball lock kegs across all online retailers?

I’ve got them from these guys in the past although they’re about 3 times the price now. There are a lot on ebay too.

I’ve been seeing them on craigslist regularly for around $50. Just picked up2 for $45 each. They had a few dents and stunk like kombucha, but they hold pressure. Now just need to finish the keezer build.

Yep, they’re becoming scarce. You could just get pin locks. I plan to just buy new though. I have 2 new ones, they’re nice. Yes, they’re pricey, but they’ve never been used. I like new stuff. I have had issues with getting the posts off though, so you have to specify in the comments when you order them to make sure the posts will come off. I had 2 get stuck and had to send them back for exchange.

Has anyone tried these?

At that price, its almost not worth buying used, as long as they are good quality.

Would ya’ know where they might be manufactured?

Perhaps those are the Italian jobbies…Or Chinese…

This was news in 2008.

Good luck on your quest.

This is why I stocked up on ball locks when I first started kegging. I wanted ball locks because of the smaller diameter. I bought a bunch from Beverage Elements

back when they had two packs for a discount. The kegs are probably the cleanest you’ll find for used kegs and their customer service was great. One arrived with a bent post and they sent me a free replacement the next day. One time I asked for specific kegs and they sent exactly what I wanted.
