Transplanting hops

Hey so I planted and harvested my first year of centennial hops in my backyard. As expected, there wasn’t a huge yield, but the plants are very healthy! Moving forward, I am looking forward to transplanting them into a larger container or simply planting them into the ground. When is an appropriate time to transplant them? Fall…Spring…? I live in Fairfield California and the weather has been low-upper 70’s with no rain if it matters. Thanks!

Were they potted this year? Hops tend to need a dormant freeze to thrive. I’d wait then plant in deep winter or early spring. You’ll probably need another year for them to take and produce again.

Yeah they are 2016 plants. So let them go dormant and then transplant in the spring is what your saying?
