Hey all, I just had a question about a batch of Brewer’s Best Holiday Ale that I’m brewing right now. Tomorrow it will have been in primary for one week, and I am going to have an opportunity to transfer it over to secondary in a new 5 gallon Better Bottle. I’m wondering whether this would be a wise choice for this beer or not. I’ve heard that you should rack if you have fruit in primary and I definitely got a few orange peels in there at least. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Leave it in the primary for at least another week. Then check your gravity, wait two days, check again, and if the gravity is constant, then you can rack if you want to.
I agree with Shadetree, let the hydrometer tell you when to transfer, not the calendar.
