Tower Shank Stainless Steel

My current tower shanks are chrome over brass. Since I frequently have cider running, I would like to upgrade my tower shanks to 100% stainless (my current taps are Perlick SS).

Can anyone recommend a brand or a link to a website that offers anything of the sort?

Thanks

NB offers a 4" and a 6" stainless, I’d imagine that any decent HBS (Midwest Supplies, Austin Homebrew, etc.) would carry them as well.

I run these

on my kegerator with a tower.

Hey Baratone - are those all stainless on the inside and just chrome on the collar and outside?
I found these, which state they are all stainless “only stainless touches the beer”. But down at the bottom it says 'not recommended for cider". Why wouldn’t stainless be okay with cider? That’s my whole objective here.

Thanks

Everything in contact is suppose to be stainless. Not sure why they would not recommend those for wine and cider. I have ran cider through mine for quite sometime without issues.

Micromatic also carries these “wine certified” shanks that are supposedly “excellent for wine, beer, or cider” - http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-bee … A-304.html

Just based on the descriptions, I think the shanks you linked to above are stainless steel (“only stainless steel touches the beer”) and the “wine certified” shanks are 304 stainless steel (“only 304 stainless steel touches the wine”).

I’d call them and ask why the regular stainless shanks aren’t good enough for cider. It might just be a marketing ploy as the 304 shanks are quite a bit more expensive (and a new product). I’m curious to hear what they say.

I have the regular stainless shanks and have been quite happy with them, but I’m only dispensing beer.

I was just looking at that link as well. Shows that they are safe for wine, beer, and cider. Looks just like the ones that I have. As mentioned before I have had no issues serving cider out of mine.

Here is what I found in terms of difference in stainless steel:

Type 303—free machining version of 304 via addition of sulfur and phosphorus. Also referred to as “A1” in accordance with ISO 3506.[6]

Type 304—the most common grade; the classic 18/8 stainless steel. Outside of the US it is commonly known as “A2 stainless steel”, in accordance with ISO 3506 (not to be confused with A2 tool steel).[6]

I know that cider & wine can leach toxins out of brass, but have never heard of anything of the sort with stainless 303.
