looks like i overshot my water by a half a gallon in my hefe batch am i screwed or is there a fix?

Dont sweat it. Its the difference between, say, 5%abv and 4.5% on the one hand, but on the other you also get 10% more beer.

Do you mean you have 5.5 gallons in the fermenting vessel? If that is the case you may end up with 5 gallons of beer. The trub layer can occupy quite a bit of space which does not contribute to your SG.
