Time of fermentation

how long does a typical fermentation time last? does it depend on the yeast? its been about 48+/- hrs since and the top layer has dropped and now is starting to settle. let it set for a week now then take F.G?

depends on yeast, temperature, and the gravity of the wort. it can take a few days to over a week. theres no way to tell simply by time or bubbles in the airlock, the only measurable way is a hydrometer reading

my advice would be too let it sit for 2 weeks then take a reading

i was going to give it a week then take a reading then seeing what its like my og. was 1.033 5%abv then i think its suppose to be like 3%abv

I can read the words, but fail to make any connection between them…

+1. I let all my beer sit for at least 2 weeks before I even think about taking a reading. There’s no need to keep opening a fermentor and risking an infection. Let it sit. Let the yeast do their job.

ok sounds good!

With such a low og I bet it’s done.
I keg my small beers after 4 days of primary.
