Time in carboy?

I just finished my second brew last week and I want to get another one going. I kegged my 5 gallons from that brew but I only have one keg so I’d like to know if leaving a new brew in the carboy will cause a problem.

How long can I leave the third brew in the carboy before it goes bad? I don’t know how long it will take me to drink the beer in the keg and that is why I want to start a new brew soon.

I have had beer in the carboy for several months with no issues. There can be problems with leaving it sitting on the yeast for months at a time, but they are rare.

Depending on the beer, some people will age in a carboy for 1+ years.
