I use Denny’s desing for the Igloo rectangular cooler MLT. I have seen several methods for attaching a thermometer. The rout I was considering is simply drilling a small hole in the lid and running a 12" thermometer through. WIll I have any issues losing heat by doing this? What is the perferred method?
Problem with that is it will only give you the temp in a small area. I just check the temp mash only once after mash in buy moving the thermometer around and up and down I get a good reading and if I need to adjust my temp then.
Most of the time those coolers only lose a couple degs or less at most per hour.
