I made this recipe last saturday, and I was very surprised at my 62% efficiency.

I reached my boil volume and then I stopped sparging and the runnings were 1.020. I was wondering if there are any tricks to pull more from my fly sparge without increasing the volume and boil longer? I have created other recipes that have less grain bill and made more than 75% efficiency.
My setup is a 15 gallon pot and NB 5Gal Deluxe All-Grain Setup for fly sparging.
Any advise would be great.
I’m no fly sparger, but I’d suppose you might slow down your sparge rate a bit and watch out for stuff that could cause channeling. Honestly you’re going to lose a little in efficiency with bigger beers, but I think 62% is kinda low for a brew thats only supposed to be 1.063.
Did you fully convert before starting your runoff?
I didn’t run an iodine test, but I mashed at 152 for 60 minutes. Afterwards I brought the mash up to 170 and sparged with 170 water. I would assume that even if I was not fully converted, my last runnings would will be lower gravity as there should be little to no added conversion once I have the mash at 170. Correct?
