Sunny Dog IPA

A discussion yesterday about using up a bunch of hops got me thinking about this IPA that I haven’t brewed in a year or so. During the mash last time I brewed it, our 15year old cat Sunny showed up after going missing a couple days. He was in rough shape and we ended up euthanizing him so I named the beer Sunny Jack because it was a Union Jack clone. Well I’ve modified it a bit with FWH and late hop bursting instead of the whirlpool hops the recipe called for and renamed it Sunny Dog since that’s what I called the cat because he was such a badazz he was more like a dog than a cat. Here’s the modified recipe. Sorry @brewcat it is a butt load o’ hops. FYI this is for 11 gallons in the fermenters.

Looks like a tasty recipe. Of course I would drop the Briess and go with a real malt like Rahr. :japanese_goblin: But I have to ask. Your cascade and centennial additions at 4mins and 2 mins… why two additions of 1.3oz vs one addition at 2.6oz?

Breaking the addition up across a couple of minutes masks some of the graininess of the malt.

Geez, I heard Rahr is laying off, and shuttering some of its satellite malt facilities… More searching is needed… Maybe more grainy brews in your futures! Sneezles61

Hey Danny, since you’re brew in a bag, you don’t have a “your favorite color” cooler to mash in… What was your shirt color then ?? Sneezles61
