I have a gallon of Cider un-pasturized that, as an experiment, I allowed to ferment naturally.
It’s been almost 2 weeks and I’m pleasantly surprised with the results.
Has anyone ever sent White Labs or WYeast a sample of their yeast?
If so, what was the process and how did they react?
I guess it depends on what you want out of sending it. Are you thinking they might want to market it or do you just want some info about it?
It may be a dumb idea, I was just very happy with the results of the wild yeast. I thought tgdy might be interested in at least checking it out and if they liked it, marketing it. I’m not looking for any sort of compensation or anything.
All you can do is contact them and see if they’re interested. I gave Wyeast a yeast that they sell now, but I really don’t know if they’re always on the lookout for others.
As far as I know they were supposed to release 3 yeasts this year that were harvested in the wild by homebrewers. At least that’s what one of their employees said. As far as I can tell that hasn’t happened. Try it, see if they are interested.
