Sub for treacle

I have an old ale recipe calling for treacle. If I weren’t able to find it could I use regular molasses instead?

Treacle is a lot lighter than molasses - sort of an amber color, with a caramel flavor and no bitterness. If you can find it, golden syrup might be a better substitute.

+1 to golden syrup.
I use molasses in place of treacle. Don’t use the blackstrap molasses, though. You can order treacle on Amazon, and if you ever see it in a store, buy 10 cans because it keeps forever.

I would definately use the lightest molasses I could find.
I’d only have to buy two cans, I’d use one for the old ale and that’s all I’d ever use so the second would last forever.
