Stout Oatmeal

I’m working from home today and was just thinking about making some oatmeal for breakfast when I had a potentially brilliant or terrible idea. If oatmeal stout is good, maybe stout oatmeal is good too? The idea is: pour a touch of stout in your oatmeal along with whatever spices and sweeteners you think would be complimentary.

I’m not going to try this for breakfast any day of the week, but it may be interesting to try this for desert some night.

Thoughts?

The idea evolves…boil down your stout to force the alcohol to evaporate and to reduce the beer down to a concentrated syrup that doubles as the sweetener.

A bowl of oatmeal and a pint of stout on the side sounds like an awesome breakfast (or dinner).
