Stepping up dry yeast

In the interest of trying to save money I thought this would be a good angle. Your comments.

Brew a 5-gal batch up to a 1.060 OG with one packet and then pitch the bigger beer (or a 10-gal batch) on part of the cake.

Unnecessary for beer under 1.070.

If you are going over 1.070, do as Shadetree mentioned.
