Starter vs More Yeast

So I was going to make a starter for a brew day tomorrow from yeast slurry of a previous batch. I unfortunately cracked my flask! I have enough slurry for double (according to Mr. Malty) of what was suggested to make the starter. Would you think I’d still be OK if i just pitch the double amount of slurry and not go with a starter? With it being a holiday, no way to get a flask today.

How old it the slurry?

You could do a quickie “starter” - chill the wort to pitching temp, then put a half-gallon in a one-gallon container, oxygenate, and pitch the slurry. Hold the remaining wort at pitching temp and let the starter go for at least a couple hours, preferably until you at least see signs of fermentation, then oxygenate the bulk wort and pitch. Done this many times and it works well, especially if you pitch the starter with a good head of krausen going.
