Brew day has snuck up on me. I will brew the Amber Ale kit on Monday for the 6th time. Due to working late, mowing and other excuses, I have not had time to make a starter this week. I could make one tonight and that would give it til Monday around 3 pm so about 48 hours, or I could pitch 2 smack packs?
Which would be best?
Is today your brewday or would you brew on Monday if you made the starter? If you’re doing it today I would just pitch two packs. If you can wait make the starter. Sometimes when this arises I just say screw it and pitch the one pack if its a lower gravity knowing full well the potential consequences of my laziness/cheapness.
either is fine. A starter should be finished within 24 hours.
