Some like it hot, some like it cold

I accidentally froze the dry yeast we used for our ESBS yesterday and left a WLP007 from the same shopping trip in a hot car in the sun for about 6 hours. Warmed the dry yeast to ambient and pitched it. It looks like it’s starting to go but pretty slow to get started. Made a starter for the 007 and it acted weird- not much foam like I’m used to from my harvested starters, even after 24 hours. I considered making a run to the LHBS but the starter appeared to have developed based on the layer of goo in the bottom of the jar. I think I’m just not used to the way 007 acts/looks. We pitched it anyway and fermentation is rolling this AM. Whew! :sunglasses:

You’re lucky. It is easy for the interior of a car to get up to yeast killing temperature in an hour when out in the sun.
