I had an epiphany last night. Smoked hops! What up!
I haven’t worked out the details of how to smoke them with out burning/ cooking or otherwise heating the hops. I think if we use a lot of smoke and not a lot of heat it could be an interesting experiment! I’m tossing around different types of hops to use, but haven’t landed on anything yet.
I have no idea how it might turn out, I might waste a few oz. of hops but it could be fantastic! I like a rauchbeer, only not gross.
Ad Astra!
Thoughts?
I don’t mean to stifle your creativity…but…Simpson’s did it

Charlie Papazian wrote about smoked hops in Zymurgy a year or 2 back.

You can smoke your beer!
I’m talking bubbling smoke through your beer for maximum smoky goodness.

How do you do that without oxidizing the beer?

I’m pretty sure he’s using beer in his bong…

Nope. No bongs. Never even held one in my hands.
You can bubble smoke through the wort as an aeration method perhaps?

I’d think that if you did that the release of CO2 during fermentation would scrub it out.

Then just age the beer in a Lagavulen barrel or cask. If that doesn’t give you enough smoke and peat, nothing will!
