Sizing Mash Tun

Cheers!!

I’m looking to up size my brew output. I want to go from 5 gallons to 10 gallons mostly, I would like to have the ability to do a 15 gallon batch if so desired. I’m looking to purchase a new mash tun. I’m thinking something like a 25 gallon mash tun to compensate for batches of 5, 10 and or 15 gallon batches. Besides heat loss from the head space in the mash tun is there anything else I should be concerned with? Thanks for any input!

what do you currently have? A 48 quart cooler ? I would keep it in and add a 70
Quart for larger batches.

I can’t think of anything besides heat loss.

If you are currently doing 5g AG batches. Keep that cooler for for smaller batches.

If you have an idea of how much grain you will be using, “can I mash this” will tell you how beg of a cooler you need.

I have a 10 gallon igloo cooler now, which I’m limited to certain grain bills, not to mention to mash methods. I want to have the ability to do an all-grain batch from 5 (yeah I can use the igloo) to 10 to 15 gallons. Plus I like to not only do single infusion mashes as well as multi step. I’m looking to upgrade my mash tun to a point where I won’t need anything more to end up with a 5…10…15 gallon batches!!

I don’t want to be limited by the grain bill!!!
