Siphon option

Anybody ever use one of these to siphon from primary to secondary? If it’s sterilized would it be ok to use?
ok, the picture won’t upload. its a fuel siphon pump. red bulb style.

Looks to me like it would introduce oxygen into the beer.

What’s wrong with just using an auto-siphon design for this sort of thing?

One pump and let it go.

I would agree that this would introduce oxygen into your beer. I also suggest an auto siphon or a carboy hood with racking cane. Easy, safe, effective, and relatively cheap. Here they are:

Here is what you would need for the carboy hood:

You can add this option for the carboy hood. Put it in the offset tube on the carboy hood. Pinch the tubing coming from the racking cane and blow into the filter. Instant siphon and sanitary.

Two alternatives:

Rinse your hands with sanitizer. Fill your sanitized siphon hose with sterile water. Hold a finger over the out-flow end, drop the in-flow end into the beer, lower the out-flow below the fermenter, remove the finger over the outflow, let the water drain into a pan (or the floor - your choice), stop the flow and move the out-flow to your bottling bucket or secondary.

Ferment in a bucket or better bottle with a spigot in the bottom.

Get a pair of these, it’s easier on your hands. They’re handy to have around for cleaning, too.
