Sierra Madre Pale Ale

I’ve been drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on occasion and really come to like it. The bitterness is not bad, but more than I’m used to.

NB says Sierra Madre is a clone of SNPA. For those who have brewed this beer, mainly the one gallon kit, is it really close to SNPA? Curious to know how the IBU’s are as NB didnt know the exact figure.
There is a kit on another site which is supposed to be a clone of SNPA but the IBU’s are in the 50’s.

Thanks
Eddie

I have brewed the NB version six times. Two with a dry hopping addition.

Not sure of the IBU’s, but comparable or LESS than SN.

Maybe subtract some of the 60 min hop adition from the boil?

I was thinking about cutting the brew time for the hops. I’ll give it a shot and see how it turns out.

You could always just plug the recipe into one of the many calculators out there to determine the IBU’s.
