Should I move to secondary

Got the slobber in the primary now for 1 week the FG is at .014 however I’m only getting a bubble once every .30 sec. Should I transfer to secondary. Still a rookie only my 7 th brew.

Leave it for at least 3 weeks, but better still is to just go a month then rack to bottles. Less chance of infection or oxidation from excess handling - others may disagree. In my book, you can’t argue with the simpler approach of patience with beer.

+1

What is your reason for moving it to a second vessel?

I was thinking it would give me more clarity and since it’s reached it’s peak with the FG it would be better. I did a little taste sample and its not bad but I could detect a more powerful alcohol odor… Maybe I’m being skiddish since I haven’t messed up a batch yet. I’ve also been reading that more brewers are recommending skipping the secondary and going straight to bottling…thanks all for your inputs as I gain experience .

My opinion, it’s just that, is that :

the same amount of solids will drop out of suspension in 3 weeks in the primary fermenter as will fall out with 1 week in primary/2 weeks in a second vessel. 3 weeks is 3 weeks.

I don’t see a taste difference between beers “secondaried” verses not.

I don’t like cleaning and sanitizing things. So why do it.

Others feel completely opposite. You will have to make up your mind as you brew more. There is no “right” answer. Only the process that works for you.

I’m going with Nighthawks advice and experience . 3 weeks in the primary then straight to bottles. I wish I would have taken this art up some 40 years ago!!

Oh, I’m thinking 3 weeks in the bottles as well?
