Shipping Beer

I know it’s against the law to ship alcohol via USPS. So I just swung by UPS to ship some beers for a competition and they told me that they cannot ship alcohol unless you have a commercial license to ship with them. What the hell?!

So how do you guys ship your beer for non-local competitions?

Ran into this exact some problem a couple weeks ago. I packaged it myself, prepaid the shipping online, printed the shipping label, and took it to another UPS store and just handed it to them and said “later”.

If they do ask what’s in it, just say “gifts”.

I also heard someone recently say to answer “yeast samples”. I had a little chuckle over that.

Yeah, but they’re on to that. Don’t try to be clever.

Yeah, and NEVER tell them that it’s plutonium for your DeLorean-based time machine. I swear to God those FBI guys have no sense of humor…

… but what if you tell them it’s just a shiny casing filled with used pinball machine parts?
