Secondary on a one gallon batch to free up primary?

My first attempt at a one gallon batch of Bourbon Porter resulted in a vigorous overflow that has left my primary one gallon glass jug covered with a sticky brown coating. It has settled down a lot, and I added a blow out tube. My directions call for me to leave it in the cool, dark place for 4 more days before adding bourbon soaked cubes, then to leave it for at least another week.
Should I try to move the beer to a secondary fermenter so I can clean up the messy primary or should I just leave it alone throughout the entire two weeks of fermentation (it has been three days, so a long ways to go) and just clean up the mess after I move it into bottles after the two week mark?

Thanks! I am learning a lot, but each thing I learn leads to another question.
