I want to convert my kegorator from corney to sankey. The only issue I have is cleaning the kegs. I have a spare march pump, is this pump strong enough to clean a keg without taking the spear? Anyone use sankey kegs?
I believe breweries use caustic acid with an automated system to clean Sanke kegs. Not something you can do at home. Pulling the spear each time would do the trick but a monstrous PIA. Years ago I did the same thing with Hoff Stevens kegs that still had a bung. I pried them out, cleaned, looked inside with a flashlight to inspect best I could, sanitized and pounded in a new bung. Bought more corny kegs shortly after that.
Now I have a Sanke tap with 1/4" MFL fittings so it can easily be swapped for soda QDs. Can’t keg in the Sankes but can put a commercial keg of draft on in minutes.
