So I rushed an extract batch last night and used a wyeast German ale yeast that I thought had started to inflate. This morning, no activity but only about six hours later. If there is no activity tonight, can I repitch a yeast or is it ruined?
It can take up to 72hrs for signs of active fermentation. RDWHAHB!
Indeed. Do nothing for 72 hours. At that point, if you’re still scared that nothing has happened, take a gravity reading. Chances are that fermentation has begun.
If fermentation does start, though, don’t bother with a gravity reading for about 2 weeks.
