What style is this beer? BA and Ratebeer say Maibock…which is a lager. However, its “dead guy ALE”? Is it a maibock style brewed with pacman, their ale yeast?
ON TOP OF ALL THIS, some dudes in my brew club brewed a ‘clone’ and many didn’t have temp control. bahh!
Either way, a fine fine brew.
It is Maibock ‘inspired’. Was one of the first beers that got me excited about craft beer.
Ok, so as a fan of it, I have a question for you:
Is there something about the malt profile that reminds you of Dale’s Pale Ale?
I know it sounds weird, as they are very different styles, but there is a biscuity, melanoidin thing that Dale’s has that, #1 I don’t find in many other IPAs/APAs and #2 seems oddly similar to DGA.
Not sure about that one, been a really long time since I’ve had Dead Guy. You certainly may be picking up on some sort of background note but going off of memory they are just such different styles that I’d have to try them side by side to see what you’re noticing.
If you ever see Double Dead Guy give it a try. I had some at a beerfest that was really good.
