Propane fired. Has a small power adapter to supply juice to the electronics. It was less than $300 on ebay but it will have saved me that in propane costs in under two years.

Anyone mention a bucket heater yet? I use one, on a heavy-duty timer and GFCI outlet, to heat strike water during the night so it’s ready at 7:00 AM. Not as handy as the flash heater option above, but cheaper and requires no facilitizing. Adds 50F to five gallons every hour, so it takes about eight hours to get 20 gallons up to strike temp.

That’s what I used to do before I went crazy!

I still own two. I use one on my keg/carboy washer.
