Quick Question on mash water for 2.5 gallon batch

I’m making a 2.5 gallon batch of a Belgian Dark Strong. I’ve done fine with 5 gallon batches, I just want to make sure I’ve got my numbers right for the small batch.

I’ve got:

8.5 lbs grain, so I’m figuring on a total of 4.5 gallons of water? About 2 2/3 gallons of strike water and a little less than 2 gallons for batch sparge.

Does that sound OK?

Thanks!

Yep, that sounds about right. Depends a little on how hard you boil and for how long but yep, for a typical 60-minute boil, you’re right on.

Thanks so much, I knew I could count on you.

I also know you’re the king of small batches!

Thanks for the recognition! Yep, I recently made a couple of 1.7-gallon batches and I like it so much that I am going to keep on going with that batch size, possibly forever.
