Question for Denny

Or anyone else who knows the answer.

I am building a tun like you instruct on DennyBrew. You included pictures of your keggle, with the copper pipe inside, but have no real description of what it is for. Straining is my guess. Does/did it work? (Past tense because that page is 5 years past it’s last update, and you may not use that anymore)
Is it only for hops, and not trub? or does it filter that out too?

Thanks!

Gonzo

The copper tube is a pickup for draining the wort from the kettel.

I GOTTA get that updated!

Ah, what’s 5 years?

As for the tube, I’m guessing it keeps the hops out, but lets everything else through?

I use bags for whole hops since they’ll plug the tube. I let pellets just go into the fermenter.

This is the way I have it configured these days…
